Little help please

I've got a 91 RS camaro 305, it's all stock so far except the air intake. I was told to get corvette headers, that those would be the best for my car. What I need to know is about the cam shaft, I know I need a better one, but what kind, and how much would it cost? If anyone has any other tips or advise for me please let me know, I'm open to everything right now.

if its a roller cam they are about $300 bucks, if it isn't a roller cam its about $120 for a cam and a set of lifters. if you do have a roller cam you don't have to change the lifters just the cam.

I don't think corvette headers will fit, but if you want to goto larger piping you can get the headers and cat back that are supposed to be for the single cat H.O. motors. I didn't cause it would have been considerably more $$ and I don't plan on modding very heavily. But remember, with exhaust you must start at the back and work forward. In other words, get a cat back before you get headers or it probably won't do much good.

For the cam, a lot of guys use Lt1 cams because its a roller cam, which dosen't really wear out so used is no biggie. Everyone says you can get them for about $50, which is about 200 less than you'll find an aftermarket one for, and they perform quite well. Look around for posts about LT1 cams.

Hey, thanks for the info, and I don't have a lot of money to spend so I'll be looking for most everything I get from the junkyard. If you have any more iformation or tips or help of any kind, please let me know.

I agree with HrdRock, you would be better off by getting some sort of cat-back. I found it cheaper to buy the Flowmaster muffler and taking it to a muffler shop so they hook it up with 3in. piping from the catalytic convertor to muffler and 2.5in. tailpipes. You can also save money by getting another less expensive brand. I don't know which but you can look around in a Summit or Jegs catalog.
If you want to get parts from a junkyard, try looking for a rearend diff. out of an IROC or Z28 with 3.42 gears and posi. It will improve your performance greatly especially if you have the 2.73 gears and an open diff.
Also what do you mean by "air intake"? Is it a manifold, or an air cleaner assembly. Have you looked for an H.O. air cleaner assembly with the dual intake snorkels. You can also try some sort of ram air.
Just look at the technical articles on this site. You can get alot of info and ideas you can do for cheap. Good Luck!

Thanks for the help, and I meant the air cleaner, right now I'm in the process of making my own dual intake. And then I have to find a hood for my car. WEll I don't have to, but I really want a different one.
