I have an '85 Trans AM. I am planning on getting flowtech headers and putting dual exhaust with flowmasters, exiting out the sides before the rear tires. good choice? also, my stock exhaust system.... sounds like crap, when I excellerate (its always been like this. I need help tuning my car) it clicks... the whole time my engine runs.... is it my manifolds? I dont know what to do. I have so many problems I dont know what to do with.

 

It could indeed be your manifolds. Check for a gasket leak. It could also be a number of other problems like lifters or rocker arms.

 

Sounds like an exhaust leak, I would check around the y-pipe area, if the sound is around your feet. Also, converting to duals costs a bit more on our cars, and I would just suggest getting a normal cat-back.

 

Make sure it's an exhaust leak before you do any mods. Easy way to check is to get a piece of hose, put one end by your ears. Then with the other end just move it around where the noise is coming from and see if you can hear where it's coming from. More than likely it will be were the driver side pipe goes into the passenger side pipe.
