2.5" or 3" cat converter?

I'm redoing my exhaust system front to back with the following parts

Hedman shorty headers
Hedman Y pipe (from what i understand it's 2 1/4 to 2 1/2)
Walker 46669 exhaust pipe (Will be cutting out where it necks down to 2.5" at muffler and using a 2.75 to 3" adapter for muffler)
Magnaflow 12267 muffer (3" inlet)
Walker 43244 and 43243 stock style 2.5" tips

The cat I want to use is a Magnaflow 54959 -- 3" spun flow (ceramic) Is it too big? Do I go
down to a 2.5"?

***EDIT*** If staying 3" might use a Magnaflow 53009 instead

Car is a TBI zero engine mods for now. Eventually getting World heads and LT1 cam (they were free lol)

Thanks!!

Do the Hedmans have a bung for your O2 sensor? Might wana check seems like they didn't. Hookers have a good fit to them from what ive gathered. Id use 3in on EVERYTHING I could on these cars the exhaust chokes em out IMO.

Always go 3" cat and cat-back on a stock or close to stock V8 - regardless of what anyone else tells you.
