CHECK ENGINE LIGHT - CODE 44

Transmission: 700 R4
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT - CODE 44
For a 1989 305 engine with TBI, does anyone have experience with CHECK ENGINE LIGHT - Code 44? I grounded the upper two right terminals, to get the code. Flashing sequence indicated code 44. After some reading/research, others have suggested replacing all of the following gaskets and emissions parts.
Intake Manifold Gaskets (to engine)
Throttle Body Injection (to Intake Manifold) Gasket
Oxygen Sensor
EGR Valve
Idle Air Control Valve
If this was the case for you, were these parts replacements successful in clearing the code and having engine run better?

id start with the 02.
The EGR would probably make it run bad if it was stuck open etc..
