Over the winter i upgraded the exhaust on my Z28 to the new Hooker Racing Heart long tube headers for SBC .
Hooker Racing Heart long tube headers part #BH13203
Hooker Blackheart engine swap header -back exhaust kit part# 70501326-RHKRI
Hooker Blackheart transmission crossmember part#7122205HKR
Hooker Transmission Crossmember Adapter Bracket part# 71223003HKR
Im running a ZZ4 and a 700r4 transmission over all this is a good set up but there are some issues that hooker should work on. The headers are great and go in from the bottom easy when you have it up high enough but I had to use a hammer near the flange to make a little clearance so the bolts would go in. The exhaust kit is pretty much painless when you follow the instructions. The biggest problem i see with this is there is not a adapter bracket for a 700r4. I was lucky and found a diffrent tailshaft housing that moved the rear mount back about 5 1/2 inches and used the adapter bracket backwards from what hooker instructions. Also you have to use a starter that can be rotated 180 degrees for clearance.
The ground clearance is about like a stock exhaust.
Its got angle plug heads and
the tailshaft housing came out of a 90 Cadillac Brougham with a 350 and 4L60
Wow! I've no idea how I missed this thread.
It would seem the OP is long gone but I was inquiring about this in 2017. More about the how that particular crossmember "Hooker Blackheart transmission crossmember part#7122205HKR" would fit with a none F-body 4L60 that has the transmission mount on the extension housing. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/ltx-...questions.html
I'd also like to incorporate the entire header to tailpipe exhaust eventually but that's later. Seeing as I've already bought the crossmember a couple of years ago, knowing that it works on that particular transmission architecture without modification is pure gold. Assembly begins this spring.
Hey profootbrake2, if you're listening, thanks a ton.
How was the clearance on the passenger side. I have the same headers and the #2 tube crosses over the #4 plug. I've got angled plug brodix heads. Holley support is crap.
I know with my 2210's I had to redo the driver side brake lines to get them away from the primaries. I also can't install the headers, or the starter without basically unbolting both. They have to do a dance to get in place together.
