Hooker headers that work well
So. I've been all day looking at jegs and summit, reading posts and forums. My 92 RS is getting headers and y pipe with new exhaust. Will the hooker 2460 headers and the hooker y pipe 16767 fit with out any major issues. I have heard people say that they just bolt right up and fit like a dream. Trying to get a good fit and keep the pathway the same as the original pipes took. Let me know if any of you have had good luck with this set up. Thanks for all your help....

I had Hooker 2055's on my IROC back in the day. Fit great, had the air hookup, and had decent gains.

Re: Hooker headers that work well
There are so many directions you can take these cars. What confuses me is when you read on posts how well something worked for a certain individual and look it up on like summitt or Jegs and they say that it doesn't fit your car. So, I'm going to do the egr delete, smog pump delete and hooker headers and ypipe. That should free up some room in the engine bay. Get a better flow for the exhaust and start me on the way to rebuild. Next up is cam shaft and a good engine bay detailing. Hope for the best......right!!!

Re: Hooker headers that work well
I had the 2055 Hookers + their Y-Pipe. I had the air-tubes removed at the time of purchase.
The headers fit perfectly fine, however changing the plugs with the headers fully attached was a right pain in the ***. Not enough room at all to get a socket on them. Ended up with a box-wrench on all of them. And most of the time I just loosened the headers to create some room because it was such a pain.
Now I have Hooker 2210 long tubes and while the plugs and wires are easy, god help you if you need to pull the starter for some reason. The starter won't come out if the header is installed, and the header won't come out if the starter is installed. So basically, if I need to remove either the Starter, or the Header, have to remove both to create enough wiggle room to get either out. I also had to re-route the brake line on the driver side of the car too.
