Hooker or Lemon headers for BBC?

Hey guys im building a 496bbc for my 82 camaro and was woundering which company would be better to go with Hooker or Lemon Headers for headers for bigblocks in our cars? like if anyone has any info on Lemon Headers that i can take a look at kool. i know Hooker makes a nice set but im not sure if i wanna hack up my floorboards or subframes to let them fit.

ill more then likly puttin in a Pro-fab tubular crossmember when i do the swap so i know clearence wont be aproblem around that area. any info would be great thanx guys. im just doin alittle homework before im actually goin to be done with this motor.

The hooker headers are only 1.875 primary I think.

yep 1 7/8 primary`s and many hours of fitment issues...go with the lemons if they are a direct fit. The extra money they cost will cancel out the work you`d have to do to get the hookers in there, plus a 500 inch engines gonna need more primary pipe anyhow

How is ground clearence with the hooker header5s and your custom exuast greezemonkey? becuz i might wanna lower my car like an inch or a bit more after gettion the bigblock in there. but if the ground clearence is about the same with my long tubes on my 305 then i might try to look into the lemons or someone elses.

Your big block will lower it at least an inch but from the look of your exhaust I probably have more clearence than you do right now. I would cut the collector flanges off the headers if I had to do it again and use a band clamp to hold it together. there are some pictures at my site of the exhaust and ground clearence

yeah ive looked at your pics alot but like how is goin over speed bumps? ive scraped each speed bump ive gone over so far. i just wanna kinda do the same setup you got but put it back into a 4'' catback. i think mufflex makes a 4'' catback for our cars but ill just end up using a short piece of the intermdiate pipe.

edit: also do you or anyone else know if these headers will be good enuff to support abouit 600+ hp?

no scrapes over speed bumps...your exhaust is so low I can see air over the pipes lol, it all depends on your skill and how much time you can devote to it, I spent several days creating the header back stuff and several days making the headers fit...I have more pictures of what MUST be done to use the super comps headers with a raised port head like a merlin or similar aftermarket...They are not for the faint of heart so I will not post them in public but some serious sectioning must be done on the driver side. I have the pictures stored on a disk at the shop I`ll bring them home to email if you`d like.

600 horse thru 1 7/8 primary is probably the ceiling...I have ran et`s that equate to 550 RWH so with a 20% loss, I can`t see getting much more out of them..they are already (I think) creating too much low end torque, it would be nice if the peak torque was around 1,000 r`s later in the band..maybe I could get on top of the tires then

you can do it but it's hard with that small of a primary. my buddies Pro-Charged 540inch is making well over 1100hp but i know that the headers is the weak point of the system

that would be cool if you can send me those pics. my email is Timz2882@yahoo.com

i think ill call or email Lemon headers to get some pics of there headers and ask some info on them.

right now for heads im not sure weather to go with Edelbrock performer RPM heads or Trick Flow heads which would cost about $400 more then the edelbrock.

I'd be interested in knowing what you find out from Lemons, I might have to go that route myself.
