SLP Y-Pipe

I do not have headers, however it is getting about time to replace my Y-Pipe. SLP offers a nice Stainless Steel Y-Pipe, that looks like it would flow alot better than stock. Has anybody had any experience with this pipe? Oh, L98. Thanks

i got one on my L03 (from summit for 99.50 - check their clearance section). but, i'm not sure if that one would work for you or not since you've got the 350.

anyways, for mine, it didnt bolt up to the passenger manifold, so i had to add a little extension piece in it. needless to say, i was a little pissed, but it worked out. i still havent figured out why it didnt work, i figure maybe a defect or something.

well, besides that, i was extremely pleased with the pipe. 50x better than stock. i got my stock assembly out, and first, the pass pipe meets at a 90º angle, and also, there are some points where the crimps are so forced that the diameter is reduced to around 1.75-2". granted, this is for an L03, so your L98 will probably be a little better, but still more than likely pretty crappy like mine. the SLP pipe is 2.5" mandrel bent all the way, and join @ 3", a very smooth transition. I got mine, because i figured for $100, i couldnt go wrong. but, if you have to go with $200, i'd say just pay an extra 175 through a group purchase or something and get the headers as well...just my thoughts...

Thanks for the info Pat. That stock pipe is diff. a sight when compared the slp part. Cant see how you could not feel alittle diff when installed. I will check summit, never see them on sale at slp.
Thanks

Was it about 2 1/2 to 3" short on the passenger side? There's supposed to be a spacer there on later cars (my 89 didn't have one, though) to take the place of the exhaust blockoff plate that earlier cars had. My 84 had that, but I got the spacer from another car and put it in it's place. I had originally just unhooked the vac servo, but I think it kept getting sucked closed or something.

yeah, it was probably around 2". i couldnt figure it out, so i just cut the pipe on the pass pipe and bolted in a exaust pipe adapter (2.5" ID to 2.5" ID) and that gave me enough room to make it work. then i just took it to a shop and had them weld everything together.
