Secondary Air Injection Pipe

Hello everyone, I am new here. Last year I acquired a 1991 Z28 5.0 with 38K miles in excellent condition. My secondary air tube that goes from the passenger side of the engine to the catalytic converter is damaged. I have searched high and low and can't find a replacement. Are there any aftermarket companies that make one? Or perhaps someone may have one laying around after they removed all their smog stuff. I realize that I can run a section of high temp hose, but I am a purist, and I would like to find that pipe exactly how it went. I also apologize if I have posted in wrong place. I figured this was emissions / exhaust related.

Thank You

Not that I'm aware of.

When I lived in California I had the same problem. Mine was damaged (smashed) down at the bottom where it stubbed into the cat. I ended up getting a stainless natural gas line, like for hooking up a water heater or gas furnace, cut the fornicated part of the OE line off, and used compression fittings on the pipe and the cat stub to hook up the gas line. Ran it like that for years. Passed California "enhanced" inspection acoupla times. I used a hose clamp to hold it still to the Y-pipe for awhile, then found the OE clamp for that off of a TPI car which my carbed one didn't come with, and swapped that on. Same thing should work for you if the part up at the top is still OK.

Re: Secondary Air Injection Pipe

Thank you. I will look into some stainless tubing.

I just find it hard to believe with all the 3rd gen cars out there no aftermarket company has made this pipe. They make the secondary air tubes at the headers but that's it.

Re: Secondary Air Injection Pipe

It's not "stainless tubing"; it's even eeeeeezzzzyer than that.

Compression fitting at each end to clamp onto the ends of what you have left, and ... down the road.

You obviously haven't been on this site for very long... all too many people who now own these cars are SO TIGHT, you couldn't pound a needle up their anus with a sledgehammer. I can't blame mfrs for not wanting to deal with "yeah I'll buy one" then "$3!!! I can't afford that!!" when they spend THEIR money to create whatever it is. LOTS of em went down that road and just cut their losses.

Yes, today is my 1st day on this site. I had a 1988 IROC Z back in 94 and now I have my 91 in 2025. Thanks for the stove pipe idea. That will work.
