Tail Pipe Help
I installed a new Magnaflow Muffler #12267.
3" in and dual 2.5" out.
Need a way to tighten up the following.
I had to put an adapter on from 2.75" intermediate pipe to the 3" inlet on the muffler. Had to cut a small piece of 3" pipe to go between the muffler and adapter. Need to weld or try to clamp here.
The 2 tail pipes are really loose in the muffler. Hate using clamps bc you can't get it apart in the future. The band clamps I have weren't working cause the won't crush the muffler because it is thicker.
I could weld it but hate not being able to take it apart in the future without cutting it off.
Any suggestions.
Thx
Pete

Re: Tail Pipe Help
Weld on a ball flange or header flange if you want it to last and come apart when needed.
The local exhaust shop would probably make 'ya a 2.75" i.d. to 3" o.d. adapter for a couple bucks.
Or better yet have them weld on a connector set and be done with it.

Re: Tail Pipe Help
I got a crazy idea. How about just getting a 3" intermediate pipe. The factory muffler and tailpipes were a welded assembly. The tailpipes never failed. It was the muffler that rusted out. Your SS muffler isn't going to rust out.

Re: Tail Pipe Help
Easier said than done. I have the 4 bolt flange Intermediate pipe. So replacing that opens up another can of worms. I will just use clamps and when I'm ready I will buy a complete system.
