dynomax bullet mufflers

I was wondering how much the dynomax bullet mufflers quiet the exhaust. I like loud exhaust, but I would like to be able to hear my stereo over it when I want to. I plan on having turn downs before the rear axles. I want it to look something like this picture that I got from on here. Will aiming the turndowns slightly toward the outside of the car help? If anyone has any suggestions let me know.

Thanks

Ben

I have the Dynomax Bullet mufflers on my car with true dual exhuast. I had the pipes custom bent by a local shop and they did an outstanding job. As for the muffling effect of the so called "mufflers" they dont do a very good job. My car is really loud especially when you get on it. I have my exhast set up almost exactly as you describe with turn out/downs right before the rear end. Its not all that loud at cruise speeds, but you can still hear it. But I like noise, so i'm happy with it.

That sounds like what I want it to sound like. Before I had a 305 with stock location exhaust but it was (I believe a cheap custom catback) without a muffler and I took the cat out of it. I would have been ok if it was a bit louder than that even, but I dont want to go deaf. It is in the process of getting a mild 350. What kind of car and motor do you have? Thanks for the help

The pipes themselves plus the labor to install them was $106. I already had the mufflers, and I just sat and watched them bend the pipes and told them where I wanted everything. I dont have a crosspipe right now, but if I ever wanted to add one it woudln't be a problem because the pipes run fairly close to each other. I read in your post that you're in the process of a mild 350. With any more than stock cam specs, compression, etc., it could be too loud for your tastes. Mine is plenty loud with a stock LO3 305, and the cam's in those are wimpy. Probably another factor that contributes to loudness are the full length headers, but I chose them for whenever I step up to another motor and need the higher breathing capabilities. I went with the shortest muffler, the body is 16" I believe and then another 6 or so for the ends. I'm not sure if the longer ones are quieter, but if they were, it wouldnt' be that noticeable. Before I put the mufflers on the car, I took a pop can and could slide it all the way through the muffler, if that's any indication of sound-control ability. I think some of the loudness also comes from the pipe length, and the fact that they dont go past the rear end. I'd say that the shorter the pipe, the louder the car, at all rpm's. As for sound clips, I dont have any; sorry.

I also am interested in this and have been thinking about that setup. If not the bullit mufflers than it will be chambered mufflers.

Question: How does it sound in comparison to say.... 2 chamber flowmasters? Louder? A lot louder? Not as deep? Deeper?

Thanks.

So Ben, hows the build going? Did you get the 58cc's hoged out alright?

Like mentioned the bullets arent very much a muffler of any type they are alot louder than glasspacks and when they dump like in the pic (any mufflers) they make more noise in the car, also creating vibrations. If you were to branch out and go over the axle taking the the pipes to the stock exit locations it would dampen vibrations and in car noise but give enough rumble for the world to hear. From what I cant see but Im fairly sure is that with that setup the floorboard has to be hammered from the bottem to make some clearance in the front drivers side, the space betwen the the drivers door and fender "the so called (frame) of the unibody" Other than that this looks like a very nice setup Mustangish in nature.

We have the two-chamber Flowmasters on our Nova, and I'd say the tone is deeper. But, with the Nova, the motor is built with 11:1 compression, and lumpy cam, somewhere around 292 duration. So taking into account these factors, the exhaust will be louder from the start. Even with these mods, I believe the two chamber Flowmasters were a little quieter than the Bullet's on my stock 305. Now, we've changed from the Flowmasters to the Bullet's on the Nova, and it's louder than both my camaro and louder than it was with the Flowmasters. As for vibrations, the only one I've had so far was the plastic cover over the steering wheel, but I solved that problem by buying an aftermarket wheel.
