banging sound

banging sound

hey guys i have edelbrock TES headers to a gutted cat then threw a 3 inch pipe to a flowmaster. my question is when i hit the gas in nuetral it make this poping sound or banging. kinda liek sum1 is hitting inside my exhaust with a wrench. is this an exhaust leak? also my AIR tube brock off my cat. coudl this be it? also if i just plug up the whole and take the whole air this off my car will it mess with anything? thanks

Does it pop when your rpms start to lower after being rev'ed high? If so thats normal. Lotta people say its unburnt gas popping in your exhaust. My car does this when its cold, but goes away when its warm.

i have found that any car with
A)no cat
B)no muffler
C) neither do this. dont know why, but everything from my buddy's 2.2 cavalier to my 305 to another friend's LT1 trans am.
