headers & emissions

hey guys,

will say, a set of edelbrock tes or hooker headers effect the emissions on my car?
I know that they have the emissions stuff on them but will I lose some points on the emissions test?

Thanks for any help

I don't see how as long as you hook up the AIR tubes. Headers just allow the exhaust gases to flow more freely.

As long as you get the one with EGR, you'll be fine. Now of course I would think that depends where you live, I hear California is real strict on emissions. So I would get second opinions before you spend your hard earned money. Maybe call jegs or summit and ask them.

All Edelbrock intakes are 50-state legal as long as you get EGR.

Also what would happen if you had headers w/o air, no smog, or egr but passed the sniffer? (My car)

You'd fail visual.

Except for the most sophisticated dyno tests, the sniffer reflects what a "typical" vehicle/engine combo will emit with the proper equipment. So, just passing a "sniffer" will not mean you "pass" the test.

if you get emissions legal headers you will have no problem they will have to have the air tubes and oxygen sensor hole. the intake will also be alright as long as you get the egr as for what
5-7 kid said it depends on where you live as for the visual test some states only have the tailpipe or sniffer test. they dont do a visual and also some states such as virginia where i live dont even do smog checks.
