Getting rid of AIR?
I want to get new headers and perferably the ones without AIR to clean up the engine bay a little. I want to have a cat though. Should I look for a cat that doesn't have AIR and then just get the headers without AIR? Is there anything else that has to be removed or is it just as simple as that. Also, will an exhaust shop install this even though it loses some of its emmsions stuff?
Most exhaust shops won't install headers period. If you can't do it yourself, your best bet is to find a shop that will do it and then drive open headers to the exhaust shop. Be aware that you'll pay for 5-10 hours labour to have them isntalled, so that could be approximately between $200-$400. Then you still have to pay for exhaust after that. It's really not that hard to do. Just gotta take your time. As for a cat, I have one of the high flow cats the exhaust shop carried, don't remember the brand. Basically it is a 3" hole with some stuff around it. Basically the same as no cat as far as I'm concerned. There is a tube for the air to attach to, but it is capped off. You only need to remove it to hook up to your AIR if you have it.
