I have a 1989 Trans Am GTA with a 383 strocker and dual stock cats. I'm thinking of taking my cats off, and I'm wondering if I would notice any gain in performance?

You'll pick up 5-10 I would say since you have 2 of them. Why not just get one hi-flo one?

I'm no expert, but how could that be true? It's the same as every other motor. And if you had to do maintenance ont eh rings and pistons, I don't think anyone would build a 383. Course I may be wrong.

I felt a major gain with my 92 Z28 convt 305TPI when I gutted the stock cat. I can only imagine your 383 would really breathe with out the cat. Beware, your exhaust will become noticeably louder without the cats!
I'm running a single, high-flow cat on my ZZ4TPI combo, mostly to keep the exhaust note reasonable. I'm a little older and get tired of the "open exhaust" sound I loved so much when I was 17!
