2 Flowmaster 40 series or 2 glasspacks???

I have true dual 2.5" exhaust on my car with 2 glasspacks. I thought the straight through design of the muffler would be great for performance, but i am hearing that a set of 2 chamber flowmasters would give me better performance, is this true? any idea why??

The Flowmasters will flow better and most likely sound better than glasspacks. This is because most glasspacks have a louvered core that causes turbulence in the airflow. Glasspacks are the king of cheap, though, and if you don't have the money for the flowmasters, just leave them on until they blow!

Thanks for all of the advice. I am going to have some exhaust work done soon anyhow. So I think that will be a good time to do the swap. It will be within a month or two, and I'll let you know how it goes.

Flowmaster!

Definitely don't waste your money on glasspacks.

I don't know, but I got a glasspack in place of my muffler while I'm upgrading to 3" exhaust, and mine is just a tube with some fiberglass padding inside it. It was almost completely flat inside. There was nothing in there to interfere with the flow. The only interference would be when the fiberglass goes out and it becomes a 3.5" pipe instead of the 2.5 it should be now. Besides that, I can't see anything wrong with it. Plus, it is sounding pretty good so far. Of course, it is on the stock pipes. That could be why...I don't know.

BUt I say, go with whatever makes you happy.

I have always liked the FLowmaster sound. WHen my father had the 69 LeMans, he had 2 Cherry Bomb header mufflers on it. It sounded real good. I liked it, but once I bought the car, I had to have FLowmasters. I would take the 40 Series over glasspacks any day of the week.

I'm not a big fan of flowmaster, but I'd take them anyday over glasspacks
