how can i tell where the leak is????

WHen i start the car and when im accelerating at about 1\4 throttle, i hear that ticking sound that sounds like an exhaust leak, and hopefuly not alot of detonation...

i recently installed SLP headers and the y-pipe, but when i installed the y-pipe it didn't align exactly perfect on both collectors, especialy the drivers side. but i figured if I got it tight enough that it would compress the gasket and not leak. But i still have that ticking sound, I can't hear it when im in park and rev the engine, its only when im driving or starting the car.

what should i do to tell exactly where the leak is? I tried getting under it while it was running and feelign around for leaking air, but didn't feel anything, and i couldn't tell my listening where its coming from. any clues?

if you can get up under there and look, look to see if you can see some black buildup on the new pipes anywhere, that will help you locate a leak.

I know this sounds weird and I am prolly going to get flak over it but have a friend somehow or another pour ATF into the intake or some other fluid that will burn with a nice cloud

and you will see it flowing from your exhaust leak

found a few on my rx7 when I let the motor soak in ATF all night long

though be carefull so you do not hydrolock the motor

or try just regular old carb cleaner to get it to smoke a little.

Plug the tailpipes with a rag - if there's a leak, you'll hear it
