How much did you pay for header installation?

I got a quote for my header install with no Y-pipe of 400 bucks... but the guy is going to surface the headers and use copper gaskets.

In my opinion this seems a little high, but is it really an ok price?

The guy seems to know what he is doing and his shop has a really good reputation for doing good work.

Thanks.

Buy your own gaskets and do it yourself. Me and my friend installed TES headers in my 90 TBI this past summer. And before that we had almost no experience working on cars. Just think. If you do it yourself, you will have 400 dollars left over which is just enough to get a brand new Hooker Cat back and have the muffler shop weld it all in.

It costs me about 4 band-aids, 35 cuss words, 2 broken tools (from throwing them in anger) and 2 aleve for the headache afterwards ....Actually it wasn't all that bad but my car has no heat, a/c, or any emissions stuff.

My friend who has a 1985 camaro is installing his himself, we'll prolly do it together. I would do mine myself with my friend but I don't have the time.

It cost me $40. That's 2 cases of beer and lunch for my buddy. It will only take you about 1 day to do the whole job. Maybe a day and a half. Plus, you'll learn a whole lot more about your car afterwards!
