Depends on your local emissions laws. If they don't have a visual or don't require them, you can get headers without them and it won't make a difference. they're only used to inject air into the exhaust manifolds during warmup to lower emissions.

Do you think its possible to pass without them? We don't have a visual here in Illinois, but we do have emissions testing.

Yeah you should be able to pass without them. They are only used when the car is cold (your car would never pass an e-check warming up anyway). When its warmed up, the air is diverted to the cat.

Cool.. thanks. I was originally going to try Hooker headers, but then found out they weren't emissions legal so I switched to possibly getting the Edlebrock TES headers. But if I could pass with the Hookers, maybe I'll get them.

Which Hookers? Mine are legal. The 2460's are available with the A.I.R. tubes and would then be legal (with a y-pipe you get made to hook them into the cat).

Actually, the 2460's were the ones I was looking at. My Jeg's doesn't say they're available with AIR. How much did yours cost and where'd you get them from? Also, did they fit good? Thanks.

Once you get them in they fit good, the installation is a lot easier if you can lift your engine about three inches but it is possible to do it with out. I did it with out lifting the engine and it took somwhere between 6-8 hrs to remove and install the new headers. If you do go with the hookers I strongly recomend seeing if you can get them without the factory coating if not then at least get them sandblasted and put a coating on yourself. I put 2 coats of por-15 on and three monts later there is still no rust.

No, I don't think POR-15 is high temp, but I know they make POR-20 which I believe is a high temp coating.
