Hooker cat back with no cat

Does anybody know if the hooker catback sounds just as good with out a cat. I'm asking this because i hear that the 80 series sound like **** with no cat and i was wondering if the same thing applies for the hooker. I did a search but couldn't find a straight answer.
Thanks for any info.

I am running SLP 1 3/4, no cat, and hooker cat-back. I get lots of compliments, so I would guess it sounds pretty good. I like it It is pretty loud. The only draw back is it resonates at around 2250 rpm, and normal driving is around there a lot.

well with no headers you're pusing not too much air through big pipes. No wonder a flowmaster would sound bad. That's the #1 cause, pipes that are too big.

I got Hedman 1 5/8 headers, a gutted cat, and the 3" aero-chamber cat-back. It sounds perfect. Cruising around its just a nice deep rumble but when you get on it heads turn. It sounds a little deeper with the cat on though
