Set me straight about 3rd Gen Headers for LT1 Swap
Set me straight about 3rd Gen Headers for LT1 Swap
I have been told that 3rd gen headers will bolt on to the LT1. First of all, is this correct? Should I get headers for a 350TPI, 305TPI, 305TBI? Or (I would prefer this if possible), can I get LT1 headers and use the stock exhaust routing in my 1990 RS TBI?
Basically, my main question boils down to-What's the difference in exhaust setups between 3rd and 4th gens? I know the cat is on the passenger side for both. Will the exhaust dump in a similar (or the same) location in my 3rd gen as in an LT1?
Thanks,
Erik

If the motor is in a third gen, get thirdgen headers. They should both bolt to the motor, but the fourthgen headers probably wont clear the car properly. If you want to use the stock exhaust routing you may need to go with short tube headers, but if you can have it custom made or afford the mufflex piece longtubes would be nice.
