this is semi long so please be patient. I bought some flowtech shorty headers for 30 dollars from my friend, brand new in the box. i have them installed with a homemade ypipe into a flowmaster muffler where the cat is supposed to be and dumped there. i think the only ypipe made for my headers is 2 1/2". i want to run a 3" catback. would it be pretty pointless to run a 3" intermediate pipe from a 2 1/2" ypipe? it seems to me that doing that would not net any gains. is 2 1/2" all the way back going to restrict my current and future mods? any suggestions would be helpful.

That y-pipe will create a slight bottle neck, but at leas with 3" it will help the flow more than 2.5" I pipe, just my guess on it though.
if i buy the flowtech ypipe can i cut the end of i off and make it a 3" one? or will it not make a difference. i know the 305 doesnt need that much exhaust, but i want to have the best possible and i think 2 1/2 would be restrictive after i finish modding it. i guess if all else fails ill just have to go to the bank and then call SLP and get some REAL headers, not this 1 1/2" ****. oh well for 30 bucks its not that bad but i wouldnt buy them for full price.
