Took up welding

I decided to go out and buy a mig welder. Bought a mig 10 pack from Lincoln. Never knew how much more fun mig welding could be than arc(stick) welding. Anyway, i have a question, I looked through the entire owners manual and it doesnt state what pressure to put the gas regulator on. Can someone help me out with this? Is it different for different setting that your using? (A, B, C, D??) I'm a newb when it comes to wire feeders also. I just need some input. Ive been practicing with the inner shield welding option this thing has and i started yesterday and on mig part.(switching spool and the polarity) I did notice that with mig welding, it could look like a perfect weld and not really be penetrating. Please give me some hints and any secrets about this trade that anyone has. -thanks

you'd be ahead to get a flow meter. it has a sight glass and float you can see. you can dial the CFM to whatever you like or need. welding inside 20-30 CFM is good.

Don't forget the flux core wire (innershield) requires more power; that might be why you're seeing better penetration with it than doing GMAW (gas mig). You probably either need more power with the MIG, or, move your hand slower across the weld. I found that I get the best welds when I watch the "puddle" itself, and not where the actual weld happens.

If you can find it, pick up the Haynes Welding Techbook (got mine from Lowe's hardware). It gives tips on all the welding types- I bought it before I bought my welder; it helped me choose which type of welder to go with. (I went with the LE mig- the Weld Pak 100, and then I added the GMAW conversion kit to it)
