engine covers...

What are engine covers made of, such as those found on an LS1, or Northstar? It seems like the outter cover is fiberglass or some resin (i've never seen one personally), and yet would they withstand the heat ok?

i have seen some fiberglass ones, carbon fiber, i even saw one made of polished aluminum. as stated before it does hide a lot but it really makes an engine clean and sharp...especially for a show car. what are you planning on doing with your car. for a daily driver i would put the time and effort of making one into something else.
