random idea that could work

I had this random idea about making a ram air effect for the AC system on my camaro. Running it into where the air enters the vent from either under the car somewhere or under the hood inside the body of the car like most air intake systems are routed. i colud also drill a hole into the firewall and run a duct from under the car that runs into the other air ducts that direct the air flow from the AC inside the car's dash. it should help pull cooler air to the system causing lower temps. the only problem is that you might only notice a difference at high speeds or on long trips. i know it's crazy but it could work, especially in the summer if your car is painted black like mine. i just wanted to let everyone know so they could put in some info.

Odd idea indeed, especially when all it takes is a flip to MAX AC to recirculate the cabin air, which is already continusly cooled by the A.C. system. Outside air would make it warmer.

Having to turn your AC on would probably eliminate all the benefits of the colder air you were pulling in.

the main reason i was thinking of this is because it doesn't blow hard enough to begin with. my girlfriend has a 94 mustang and i think the hood has a duct that runs under the hood to the vent for more colder air to send to it. it seems like it gives it a supercharging effect to it. this is what gave me the idea.

You are going to be picking up tons of dirt off the road if you are pulling in air from under the car.. not to mention fumes if you have exhaust leaks. I'd say you should get the air from the top half of the car if you do go through with it.

if you have a manual trans, take off the center plate and lower shift boot and go for a drive.

you'll feel how warm the air is.... smell oil and exhaust, and whenever you go thru a puddle, or even over wet ground, you can feel the humid moist air... if you have headers, you might even see steam.
