I am not quite sure to look for this but if you are talking about carbon fiber that is also used on mountain bikes ie. trek bikes.
I believe they get the stregth and durabilty by compressing the carbon fiber. I don't think carbon fiber works like fiberglass. I dobn't think they have the same construction techniques. I know trek uses carbon fiber in there bikes they get the strength by compressing then curing at a certain tempature. What are you attemping to make?

Here's one of the many topics off the car audio board. https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=226130
Basically from what I understand CF is like fiberglass except it costs a lot more for the mats, it's stronger, stiffer, and harder to cut. Might try checking out www.fbodyaudio.com I think they have a topics on carbonfiber also.
I would recommend trying out fiberglass if you haven't already. Why? cause for 15 to 20 bucks you can get everything you need from walmart or a car parts store to do a few little projects and see if you like it.

Where to go-
TRY www.aircraft-spruce.com they have a helpful hints in their catalog and materials are all available through them. There are ways to do carbon fiber without the pre-peg and oven. Son took course in composites for ME degree and there are many thing out there for the home builder. Les

Go to www.fibreglast.com. They have a five VHS set that goes for $99.95 and shows you how to work with fiberglass. Working with carbon fiber is no different. Good luck!
