Hmm, interesting. Reminds me of my old '73 Camaro. Only thing is, the grill opening on the thirdgen is flat, and the grill on the early '70's secondgen is pointed. I suppose if you wanted to get really crazy you could enhance the point on the thirdgen nose, to create that effect.
Sorry Crossfire, thought you said something about working for a mag, re. licence plate issues. Anyways, there should be a Thirdgen magazine if there isn't one already. I always check Hot Rod and Car Craft, to see if there are 3G articles--like the 330hp/378tq Vortec 305 TBI article in last month's Car Craft. Yowza! Vortec heads, cam, and a bigger TBI unit. (Of course, there are those who will say drop in a warmed over LT-1 for the same money and more power, but the fun is in the buildup.) Sorry, off topic.
Haven't heard from the guy who originally posted for a while, wonder if he's started the fiberglass yet?

I tried to make it look pointed, but it didn't come out that well. The 3rd gen nose does have a point to it, but it's not as defined as the 2nd gen nose.

I’m not a big fan of those, but the last one reminded me of something that I will probably do if I don’t go with a Camaro next… I think I want to try fit something like 4th gen Camaro headlights in the gap on the 3rd gen firebirds to completely eliminate the flip up headlights…

Yeah that's kinda cool with the Trans Am style headlight slits--I was messing with that too--you can either block the headlight opening above or below. If it gets too far from stock, though, the Camaro Gods will not like it, and in your next life you will drive a Daewoo Type R.
As for Crossfire disturbing the sanctity of Bird flip up lights, it's been done a couple of different ways. One guy was going to put Sunfire lamps in the openings. Problem is, without some fab magic, your lights will be staring at the sky. I think the Bird looks sweet with the hideaways, and they are an integral part of the design. Although Acura did the same thing, somewhat successfully, going from popup to fixed lights on the NSX, and it turned out allright.
Another solution was discovered by Knight Industries, when they mounted 18 lights on the nose of the Bird, eliminating the need for the popups! Also, David Hasselhoff could see better when driving loaded.

ya sure man, just call my idea stupid, sob, cry, weeping for days. I'll be okay, really. Reaches for medication. Last edited by Poncho Villa; Aug 27, 2004 at 01:10 AM.

Anybody tried sticking round projector beam lamps in the openings? Somebody photoshop one please, I'm on a friend's machine with no graphics toys.
Two projector beam type lamps in each opening, maybe three with one of them a turning light. Could look cool. In fact, I might do that to my Bird...projectors in the two grill openings.

Hey Crossfire, how about Shoppin' up some projector beam lights? Don't have my Photoshop on this machine. Put round projectors in the headlight openings.
P.S. Don't think this thread has strayed too far, we are still giving this guy suggestions for weird things he can do to his perfectly good car.
P.S.S. Oh yeah, um dude I like the GFX idea, think you should do it, or some variation on it, but I think Camaros look great with ground effects, plus they work.

Here you go, Crossfire, some pics of the Porsche Carrera GT, which has the lights I'm referring to. A few cars have them now, like the new Infinity something or other.
