Painting galvanized steel

I am using some galvanized steel to fabricate something in my engine compartment (galvanized steel is the only metal I have access to currently). I'm turning my AC heater box into a non-AC heater box but I'm using the stock bolt holes so I have the ability to reinstall the AC if I need to. The only thing is that I would like to paint it black so it won't stick out. My problem is that I have no idea how to prep the galvanized steel or let alone use a paint that take the abuse of being in the engine compartment. I've been searching on the internet and on these boards and have come up with nothing. So my question is: Does anyone here know how to prep and paint galvanized steel that has to withstand underhood car temps.?

Thank you for any suggestions, tips, or advice.

lightly sand it with a fine grit, maybe 500. Then primer it with a can Z-Prime you can get at home depot.

then you can get some high temp black paint or even the best matching color automotive spray paint and cover that sucker up, it wll hold just fine, first mod I did to my old IROC and for the 2 years I owned it it didn't ever chip, I didn't even do the first 2 steps I recommended LOL. here's a pic.

85VortecTA,

What're you using for a washer resevoir? I can still see your wiper motor, but your resevoir is obviously gone, did you just disconnect it, or did you come up with something more compact?

Thanks again, 85VortecTA. I just now got it mounted and bolted down. It looks great, too, and freed a little bit of space. I'll post a picture when I get the chance.
