GM Key center Knock Out???

I bought these keys off ebay and the center of them still have the metal in them. Does anyone know if GM or some key place can punch those out? Also is this very common? Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the tip. I wasn't for sure if the pattern on the knock out was deep enough for this, so thank you.

Interesting that the key blanks came with the knock-outs. For some reason I didn't think that they did. With a new factory/dealer car the knock-out portion has the key code stamped in it. This would allow the key to be replicated without the actual key.

I recall a number of years ago a guy I worked with was given a new '82 TransAm (birthday gift). He removed the knock outs and tossed them on the lunch counter (for some one else to clean up). I chuckled as I pointed out to him that they contained the key codes for his new car. . . He still didn't care

RBob.

I got them popped out, just like you said they punch right out!

That's interesting about the key codes. I guess if worse came to worse GM could take his vin and call up whoever it is they call and get the key code to make a new key for $30. That guy sounds like a spoiled kid!
