So it is possible?

I got a rack from a 95+ Cobra. I wanna slightly shorten the steering shaft a little, and re-spline it.

Either that or, just get a 3/4" round coupler and weld it up but I'd prefer it to be splined.

They either have to be machined in on a mill, broached in a press or put in by an EDM.

EDM can do splines on the end of a shaft?
Since it's for a steering shaft it's not going to see much force (compared to trans input shaft and axles) so milling would be fine.

Yes EDM machines can do splines on the end of a shaft.

I dont want to replace the shaft, I want to spline it. This is a shaft coming out of a rack. so it can't be replaced. heh

One of the more common processes to spline a blank shaft is called "hobbing". Call around at some of your local machine shops to see if they're equipped to perform this type of work.
