What welding typ for Autorepairs?

Ok, I know this topic has been coverd in many many many many threads already but most of them just end up in which fabrication is the best

My question is, what is better to get, a Oxygen Welder or a MIG Welder?

I got myself the Hayens Manual on Welding and there is alot of stuff about the diffrent types of welding but somehow both MIG and Oxygen come out to be handy for automotive repairs. And now I'm stuck. Since these machines aren't really cheap over here in Switzerland I wan't to get a good machine and the right one for my needs.

the main reason why I want to get one is to close my holes I have in the rear deck lild from my aero wing spoiler. And once I have one I have some other projects around the house that need welding to fix. nothing major, just like fixing chairs and maybe building a shelf.

I read that MIG is good but then I read Flux gas stuff and that totally throws me of course here

I know I'll be getting a brand name so no need to discusse them since they probably aren't the same here anyway.

Our electricity runs on 230V standard if that helps you in anyway.

thanks alot!

Cedric

Want you want is a mig welder. You use a sheilding gas when running mig, I use argon. Flux core is really mig, except for the fact that no gas is used. Most "Flux core" mig welders can be converted to gas and vice versa. Some use flux core and have no problems, I however just rent a little tank. Its dirt cheap. Theres also arc welding/stick welding, which is the cheapest but is harder then mig, and is not as versatile.
