c/f idea??

Hey I have a tpi duel snorkle on my V6 Camaro and I was wondering if I was to cut that design out of styrofoam and then mold carbon fiber around it could I just pour gas onto the strofoam to get melt it out or would that harm the carbon fiber? Thanks, Baron

If the resin you are using isnt' resistant to gas you might have problems. Wash the gas residue out with some soapy water right after melting the styro and you shouldnt have any problems. You could always test it on a small piece first, I would hate to see you destroy a large CF part $$$.

Most resins will dissolve styrofoam

I think I would try and do it in two pieces. As someone here said, the resin you use on the styrofoam will melt the resin as well. You can use the foam, youll just have to foil tape it or something before you lay resin soaked carbon on it. I would do a top and bottom pull and then pop the pieces and splice them together in the middle. You will get a seam that way but you can trim it pretty close and lay bonding strips from the inside.
