What to do with 3/8ths threaded rod and ends?

I have 4 17" pieces of zinc coated hex threaded tubing laying around. These are some heavy duty pieces that I paid a good chunk of change for a while back. My original plan was to triangulate the pumpkin and axle tubes together but after welding up the axle tubes and what not decided against it. I have these high dollar rods laying around. What can I do with them? Any ideas?

Put them on Ebay.

3/8" rods would bend quickly as a suspension part. To do what you wanted to do, typically 1" tube is used and the rod ends are large enough for a 5/8" or 3/4" bolt.

I wouldn't even have a use for those.

That's what I was afraid of. I paid more than I should have for these and won't even get half of that on ebay. Only reason I am looking for other uses. Rather use it than take a hit on ebay.

shorten the hex, redrill and tap the ends, and they'd make awesome tensioners for engine accessories.

Awesome idea. Never thought of that. All I need now is a chop saw to make straight even cuts.

Any other ideas??

That stuff works amazingly well for a mechanical clutch linkage or external shifter linkage (ie. Muncie or BW 4-spd trans). I did my clutch linkage up like that, and will be doing the shifter as well. Smooths things out ALOT!

I was thinking linkages as well but I have an automatic and can't do that. So far I am definitely going to make some tensioners for the engine but that will leave me with 2/3 rods left. Keep them ideas coming.

Those shift linkages look beefy, what are the lines for? cooling I assume, just have to ask for sure.
