third gen in second gen??
i have a 78 camaro and my steering column is just SHOT!!!! it's done for and nothing can bring it back...... i want to replace it but at my local wrecking yard they dont have much of a second gen assortment..... but they do have a lot of third gen's............ i was wondering if i could swap out the entire steering column (steering wheel all the way down the the shaft that runs into the steering box)??...... i'm not looking to put an airbag or anything in it but i would like the horn and turn signels to work, lol.......... but would this require any fab. work...... or would i have to swap the steering box out or anything??.......... thanks

physically you could probably get away with it. You would have to figure out what to do with the nuetral safety switch and the cruise/high beam lever. The splines on the shaft should be the same but the length might be different. Also, the column mount under the dash is probably different too. I think it would be a little too much fabrication to try to get it to look at work correct. Keep checking ebay and try Used Auto Parts on Junk Yard Dog ®. This is a nationwide database for junk yards.
