Re: t-top conversion

cool, I'm in Cheektowaga. It looks like a great project you have there. it'd be a shame to take it apart again after all the paint and body work that went into it.

Any issues with the different contour at the front of the sail panels between the camaro and ‘bird (the bird has a sharp front edge, the camaro has a curved edge)?

Re: t-top conversion

you need to weld the bracing on the interior of the car as well, not the just skin on the outside. if you don't weld the bracing, like in the pictures on page one, the car will have a ton of flex and the paint will eventually crack among other bad things.

Re: t-top conversion

man I'd love to do this project I freaking love T-tops, plus with my 91 GFX and front bumper cover it'd look sick. How much did the project cost you (minus paint, and new roof)?

Re: t-top conversion

do you by any chance have more pics or info on how you welded the braces to hold the pillers in place while you deattached the roof? or a photo of the inner B-piller eather after removing the inner brace or a picture of how it looks now welded?

Re: t-top conversion

ahh okay we have an 3rd gen for a demo car I just went and looked at it I think I see where I am ganna cut is (planning) when you measusre did the cars have the same roof height from the rocker to the roof? Another thing I can't see on our demo car is the A-piller is a certain reason why you cut it where you did?

Re: t-top conversion

We never measured from the rocker to the roof. I only remember measuring along the a-pillars and the sail panels. No specific reason why we cut where we did. I was only 18 or 19 when I did this...
