Custom Lambo Doors

I am interested in a some lambo doors for my SC. I do not like the one i see on the internet. Most do not open wide enough for my liking. NOr do i like the 1k price tag. How hard would it be to design and make some hinges to serve the smae purpose. I'm sure its not very much metal... and most is in design and assembly...can anyone shed some light or offer some opinions?

Search the forums. There's a guy here who's almost done with his Camaro and has fabbed up lambo doors, so you might want to check that out. The problem is needing heavy duty hinges because our doors are so heavy.

I might be that guy that was mentioned before. Let me tell you, unless you are VERY VERY good with custom stuff, do not even come close to trying to do this from scratch. I am warning you now. This is a mod that you need a lot some something to do, weather it be $, skills, friend to help, luck, or whatever. It is not easy, even with my $850 universal kit it was not easy. And on top of all that, there is 0, yes 0 room for the doors to open more than I have them on mine and that will only becomes a little bit better once I cut my fenders a bit on the inner lip. now they hit the fender.

I can't stress enough that this is not easy. I am not a newbie when it comes to fully custom ideas and stuff. My whole car is like that. From my mounted fuel cell all the way to my roll bars and lambo doors.

The kit I have is 100% chromoly steel. All billet blocks of it too. The manufacturer starts with, I think it was 15-20 lbs of it and carves out these hinges. Then the very heavy duty hydrolics are exepensive too. And I have bent a fair share trying to mount up the attachment points and not have them get in the way of the fender mounting up. Also note that the 2 sides of the car where the hinges mount are not flat. Well 1 side is, the other is most certainly not.

I have at least 20 pics that I could link to hear, but I am not going to. They are all on my cardomain site. I HIGHLY HIGHLY recomned that you check them out before you even think of going any other route.

I will just post 1, this is of me getting out of the car with the doors as far open as they can go (pretty much). I can get out just fine. What it all boild down to is:

IF YOU NEED MORE ROOM THAN THAT, DO NOT GET LAMBO HINGES.

Oh and you are gonna spend a lot of $ doing this, no matter what you think, you are gonna. The damn hydros are about $100 bucks per side.

The kit I got came with all you needed in terms of hydors. If you cut them out of the equation, then you can say the hinge cost $650. Pricey, but it is billet chromoly.
