t-top to targa top conversion
i plan on making my t tops into a one piece top and the cutting out the center support. will i have enough support with just subframe connectors and possibly a cage, or do i need to reinforce the windshield as well?

Re: t-top to targa top conversion
I was thinking about doing the same thing. Does anyone have any clever ideas on how to reinforce things but also leave the targa area completely open (i.e. no rollcages that go across the top targa opening)? I was thinking of various places I could put some frame reinforcements:
-strut brace
-subframe connectors
-fab up some cross bars in the trunk area
But I wanna reinforce the center area (where the t-tops / driver are), as it seems that will be the weak point...I haven't figured out what the best way to go about doing this is. Perhaps cutting up the sheet metal on the floor and welding some bars across the frame could work?
I'm planning to pack some serious hp (500+) on this setup. You think it can be done?

well the verts do it fine..so one way would be to study the frame of a vert and see whats different or find a vert and put the pieces on?

Re: t-top to targa top conversion
I would think that tearing out the reinforcement on the door and replacing it with a lighter stronger tube design would help out alot as far as that goes then a second one possibly across the bottom of the windshield under the dash? There is a way to get two sets of sub frame conectors under the car Ive done it but I dont want to go into detail too much because of how much time I have. Im not too conserned about the extra 30 pounds or whatever 2 sets of subframe conectors weigh. Anyways thats about all I can think of as far as reinforcement goes right now that is.
