Alternator mount modification

Alternator mount modification
I have had a few requests on how I was able to get the proform tall valve covers fit with the standard late model alternator mount. The stud on the back of the alternator is to long and interferes with the valve cover. Throw away the black plastic cap, and replace with old 90 degree angle spark plug boot trim as necessary. Place the nut and wire on the stud of the alt cut off excess stud it is still a tight fit but it does fit. My car is full of these kinds of modifications nothing bolt on is truly bolt on

Re: Alternator mount modification
nice job. those wussy plastic caps always scared me anyway... the boot looks like a good plan even if you are rocking STOCK valve covers.

Re: Alternator mount modification
Nice work. You can also do what I and a few others did....unscrew the 3 or 4 bolts on the back and "clock" or rotate the back half 180degrees.
