Custom TA gauge ?

Can you take the stock gauge cluster(mine being a 85) and just remove the speedo from it. Use a dremel and make room for a 5" autometer mech. unit. Then just wire back up the dimmer lights to it. Has this ever been done? Searched and can't find a thing except complete custom gauges. If anyone has, please post pics.

Thanks

a 5" gauge is larger than the gauge pod. You have a electric speedo, not mechanical

No 85 TA's have a mechanical speedo. would a 3 3/8 fit better. My 85 is stored at my moms house so I don't have the option of measuring it.
