damn that is a nice car and i bet the exhaust cutouts are sick but once the ashtray cover comes of it stays off so you need to break it to take it off

Re: ashtray delete

thats a nice blue camaro i got the exact same rims on my 83 trans am, and as for the other guy is that just one usb plug in the ashtray if so thats kind of a waste of space and kinda looks dumb sticking up, in my opinion if you really wanted usb port there put it in sideways so you wont see it.

Re: ashtray delete

take that plastic out then recess it deeper into the ashtray kinda boxing it in, then put ur usb cable into the side, that way you can close your ashtray and nobody knows, or you can jus use the ashtray for switches, etc... and hide the usb port anywhere. but really this is only my 2 cents, do whatever you like best thats the important thing.

Re: ashtray delete

dirty, this is what I'm doing with a 3.5mm aux in port right now. I plan to make another drop in ashtray like container to hold my IPOD and have the aux in port. Fun stuff.

Re: ashtray delete

there is motors and panels you can get to have your ipod flip over and flip it back, in my trans am the best spot looks to be around the power window buttons.

Re: ashtray delete

yeah that could work, except I'd like to keep a semi stock look with that plate. I plan on storing in there, so I wouldn't want it to be obvious. Kinda stealth.

Re: ashtray delete

you could even recess the ipod into the armrest of the middle console if you have it so when it flips open you can use it.

that thought crossed my mind but theres a little more work involved and like i said in my first post this is only a mock up so it will hide under the ashtray door with the thumbdrive removed one thing id like to do is a usb port on a hinge that folds down inside a shallow box kinda like what you said i havent got alot of time on my hands right now but i will figure out something better

When you get it done post another pic, myself and others always like to see creative modifications.
