4th gen dash

Ok, so I just now purchased my 4th gen dash out of a 2002 camaro ss. Complete. I already have the 98-02 6 speed center console. 2002, camaro ss, ebony leather seats and matching seatbelts... Oh lord, all this ebony interior... the dash swap is going to happen real soon, as soon as I get it from UPS... Any help would be appreciated...

Buy a '93-96 t/a cluster unless you've converted your car to OBD 2.

The '02 Camaro cluster runs the Tach, Speedo, Odometor/trip, coolant temp & Fuel gauge from Class 2 Serial Data.

If you've got an LS1 then your running OBD 2, or if you've done a 96+ LT1 conversion, otherwise your car doesnt have class 2 serial data.

Good thing, in 1997, GM made the camaro & firebird carry the same shape gauge cluster, which means any 93-02 cluster will physically fit, the 93-96 ones ran on individual sensor wires, which is what you need.

Other then that, good luck with the swap! Im currently putting a 2002 camaro dash into my camaro, ive got an LS1 in mine, so the gauge hookup was easy

Hope all goes well.

Re: 4th gen dash

I know all this. My 2002 dash, will fit a 97 lt1 camaro cluster. Its the same dash. So it works out perfectly. Im driving to NJ next weekend to get my t56 and built lt1

Not a problem... Give me a couple months to get this motor put in and the dash all complete, and ill PM you and meet up or something. Another thing Im getting with this motor and tranny swap is the interior harness, so its perfect. Everything = plug n play.

Re: 4th gen dash

There was a guy in fort walton selling a wrecked 96 trans-am... the side was smashed in and it didn't have an interior, but the engine and transmission were flawless, and with less that 75k miles... I could have had the whole thing for $900, but I had no where to put it...

Re: 4th gen dash

I just seen a LS1 + T56 go for $1800 on craigslist in Mobile, AL

Guy said the T56 was rebuilt with warranty, not sure of the condition of the engine, though.

Re: 4th gen dash

Yeah but with the ls its not just the motor you need. Its the mounts, maybe the kmem, if you dont modify yours, the wiring is a bitch, the other stuff here and there. And for 1800? I'm pretty sure it had to have ALOT of miles on it

Yes. So I found the add you were talking about, the one he said he paid 3,200 or something for? And he was selling for 1800. I called the guy, he said it was sold. I asked about the mileage and he said it had 160,000 miles.
