metal qustions
not really thirdgen related but I was wondering if anyone could tell me a way to figure out strength of angle iron. I wanted to build some new ramps for my trailer and wanted to make them strong but try not to have 100lb ramps. I know there is a way to figure out thickness vs strength but I can't remember. so if anyone can help me i would appreciate it.
Re: metal qustions
Strength in what direction?
You can stretch, bend, compress, twist
All have different values and calculations
Google beam calculator and do the math or draw them in SolidWorks and use COSMOS to do the numbers/weight

Re: metal qustions
I have a 8500lb trailer with a gate that cannot support 3000lbs. thin square stock and paper thin expanded metal. I wanted to make two ramps for it instead of the long single gate. we only haul cars and a skid steer with this trailer and i want to make good ramps for it.
