first attempt at a adjustable panhard bar
first attempt at a adjustable panhard bar
my first attempt at a panhard bar, it is made out of 3/4" O.D by 1/4" thick tubing and tig welded togeather, fully extanded it is 43 inchs long(leaving approx 3/4-1 inch of thread inside the adjuster) and can move in to about 41-41.5 inchs long. The adjuster is the hex umi tie rod adjuster and the heim joints are 5/8" thread with a 5/8" eye the one that is welded in got a little bit harder to move after welding but i can still move it with one finger so i imagine the rear end will have no problems, it also gets easyer to move the more i move it so im guesising something got in there and ill clean it out.

You should not have welded the rod end to the tube. What happens when that rod end needs to be replaced? How did you attach the threaded part? Drill holes in the tube, slip the threaded stud in and fill the holes with weld? I'm questioning that...
Re: first attempt at a adjustable panhard bar
well if i have to replace the rod end i could always cut it out or change the design, as far as the threaded rod i drilled holes part way into the rod itself (mayby 1/8th an inch) then stuck my tig in and melted the threaded rod and pipe some then added the filler rod

the dumpster to blazer is not going to tell you a hole lot. you have the right idea you just went about it the wrong way and you welded in a rod end? eh

Re: first attempt at a adjustable panhard bar
i dont know, I think it will work just fine, doesnt seem any different than the single sided adjustable ones I have seen out there. The only real concern is the welded threaded rod as that will now be a weak point (the threaded rod, not the weld itself)since it wont be able to move. But I guess tapping that end of the rod would have been difficult. That probably would have been the only think I would have done differently.
