trouble shooting a starter prob

i got a 73'' gmc motor, with a 89 700r4 transmission, im runnin into a starter dilema, i went to autozone and they told me i had to go to gm, i know this aint true what kind of starter do i need????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

As long as you reused the 3rd gen flexplate, get a stocker for a 3rd gen V8. Any of the LT1 starters also fit and weight less

Ive found that keeping parts store peons on a need-to know basis saves alot of headaches

PS, whats this got to do with fabrication?
