door hinge pin question

so its time for me to do the dreaded door fixes on the 87.i hate doing any work related to doors, and the bigger the door the more i hate it.yes me & doors are mortal enemies.

ive seen a few replacement sets that eliminate the pins in favor of bolts.that concept is much more appealing to me,however the cost isnt...a guy on ebay wants 40 just for a set to do 1 hinge, not exactly good pricing.
classic industries i found makes them as well, chevy hi performance did a article using them.but again from knowing what c.i. charges for parts i'm not gonna bother checking the price.besides d.i.y. is much more fun.
SOOOOO.........
heres my question...
anyone out there make their own before or purchase any of the kits? if you have would you care to take some measurements & let me know(in as much detail as possible)what parts/items i would need to fabricate uppers & lowers along with any tips you may have from you experience in the making/installation?
any ideas or info would be great,i love doing fabrication & am a real cheap *** when it comes to my budget builds lol.

i dont go to the point of cutting corners & doing a potentially unsafe job,its the opposite,i try to make a better fix than the factory could come up with minus the high prices.

Re: door hinge pin question

Everyone here says the kit from Top Down Solutions is the way to go. I made my own, but I also have access to a metal lathe and a Bridgeport.
