Sumping the factory fuel tank...
I would like to install a sump on my factory fuel tank. Actually, I should say that I need a new tank because mine is leaking and there is a company out there called FBO that makes sumped tanks for the 82-87 F bodies. Anyway, they don't have any pictures of a sump already installed on the tank that they sell. I was looking at my tank and I can't seem to understand how a sump would fit exactly. It seems really tightly spaced back there and I just don't think that I have the room for a sump, especially seeing as how I am using a full 4 inch Mufflex exhaust with a dual chamber Spintech muffler. I was hoping to see if anyone has an FBO tank installed or a factory tank with a sump WITH a muffler in the stock location. Pics would be great if you got them. I don't want to spend $500+ only to find out that it won't fit with what I have. Thanks in advance for any info/suggestions!

I just looked at the pics, that's nothing more than a comp. eng sump welded to a stock tank.

Instead of the sump I will be using a 8AN bulkhead fitting for the tank and running the 1/2" line to the external fuel pump. With how the gas tank sits in the F body and a correctly placed bulkhead fitting this should be all you need for your external fuel pump. Unless your running @ Watkins Glen or Daytona. Working on getting the gas tank out is a real PITA, even without the rear end in the car. I did mine yesterday so this is very fresh in my mind.
