So what was the colour of the cowl panel area (at the base of the windshield where the wipers are) from the factory......was it body colour or black? Mine is black but i am not sure if that is factory or someone before did that on their own because i have seen some that are body colour.

I am going to be repainting the engine bay and that area but want to know which was factory.

Any input would be appreciated.

Depends on the year of the car and if it was built in Norwood or VanNuys.

 

The cowl on my 1987 gun metal gray car is black from the factory. Built in Van Nuys, September 1986.

 

Interesting! So were they all black before a certain year? Mine is 85 and is black, however, you do see a couple streaks of red in spots, so i wasn't sure if someone painted over it along the way.

 

Mostly Black until around 88ish IIRC.

 

My wife's 86 is body color too

 

My 86 TA is Black, correct me if I'm wrong, you are talking about the top of the cowl, plastic screens etc,

 

I think Norwood put out more of the black than VN
