Roll Bar / Jeep - Custom Fitment?

I work @ a JY and i was checking out the factory roll bars in the wranglers and i like how they look with the zippered coverings on them, anyone ever thought of trying to take one of these and fit it into a 3rd gen? Looks fairly easy, cut to fit height, take out some in the center or add to fit, get some rear down tubes to fit package tray etc etc. I know im gonna hear $$$ and skills, i have the necessary tools and skills to do this, just wondering if anyone has already done or attempted this. thanks

And it now becomes a 50 pound cosmetic roll bar. If you never plan on going to a track, you can do whatever you want however if you have to go through a track tech inspection, there's a specific procedure to join 2 tubes together. Chances are the jeep roll bar isn't the correct tubing to pass a tech inspection.

It'll be a lot easier and cheaper to just buy a third gen specific roll bar and weld it in.

I can see from your sig that you know what your talking about concerning the track, but i dont think im gonna be hitting the track with this car when its done, My point stated was that the Jeeps have a nice Zippered cover on them and look cleaner than Roll bar Kits. Cheaper for a kit??! no way, i work for a JY, ill probably pay 5 bucks for the whole cage from the Jeep and cut it out myself and i see 4-point cages go for a measly $140 bucks or so but then the $100 shipping is added then my weld time and it isnt worth it anymore.

I think the covers are a good idea and have thought about using them my self. But as far as the bar goes spend the money 240 bucks for quality safety equipment is a worthwhile investment. And it takes what 3-4 Hrs to weld in so not a lot of time. Be safe good luck!
