Never heard of it used because of a high volume oil pump, but yes they do exist, all late model Gen 1, small blocks with factory roller cams have a retainer plate that bolts on to the front of the block. I don't know why one would be need for a high volume oil pump.

Why do need a high volume pump? Most people will say that high volume pumps are for high mile motors, or race motors built with bigger tolerances. If this is a mild street motor a stock replace oil pump will supply the motor just fine.
