Carbon Fiber Intake Technology

This article claims that they designed a carbon fiber intake runner that flows 15% better than aluminum and weighs less. Unfortunately it's not a TPI runner but that would be cool if someone designed a CF manifold, plenum, and runners for the TPI!

Re: Carbon Fiber Intake Technology

I talked with FAST about making TPI stuff out of the plastic like they use on their LS intakes and they said TPI guys wont pay what it would cost to make it..
And they are correct...

LOL very good point! Interesting technology though! Unless someone was so hardcore about the TPI that they would pay for this but that's doubtful.

It's probably cheaper to buy a custom sheetmetal intake than to pay what it would cost for the carbon stuff.

Cool, yes. Cost effective? No.

An aluminum block and/or heads would be a cheaper way to save weight, and I'd argue that the heads would be a better bang for the buck in performance as well.

We have that stuff at work. Hand made intakes for the old America Le Mans Series car Panoz ran. They look so awesome.

The one for a 4.6 ford is about 2500.

I'll see if I can't get a picture of them some time this week, and I'll post them up.

Re: Carbon Fiber Intake Technology

I could only see less than a handful of TPI gus willing to spend that kinda $$ for cf parts.

Heres a old post of some CF made ls7 parts.
